Healthy Walking Exercise - September 2010

30.09.2010 (Friday)

It rained from last night until this morning. When I woke up at about 2.40am it was still raining quite heavily. I hope it stopped but it didn't. It was still drizzling at 5.50am where I usually start driving to my healthy walking exercise spot.

So, no healthy walking exercise this morning. Sad....

29.09.2010 (Thursday)

1)  Started my healthy walking exercise this morning at 5.53am

2)  Pictures taken during my morning walk.

3)  People that came for the morning walk.

En. Zaratin
4)  Completed my 5th lap at 6.26am

En. Zaratin and myself arrived simultaneously.  I was quite surprise to have noted that while we're on our way here, Si Tanggang was on his way home, meaning that he came and completed his rounds really early this morning.  I've to salute him for this occassion.

There were only 2 of us walking this morning from 1st to 5th lap.  The weather was gloomy with thick clouds covering the whole sky.  Today, the morning breeze was weak and could hardly be felt.  Without the strong breeze it made both of us sweat rather profusely.

28.09.2010 (Tuesday)

 1)  Started my healthy walking exercise this morning at 5.52am

 2)  Pictures taken during my walk this morning.

3)  People that turned up for the morning walk.

Mr. Donatus

En. Nabah

 4)  Completed my 5th lap at 6.28am

I started off walking alone this morning.  Mr. Donatus and Nabah came towards the end of my 2nd lap.  There were only 3 of us after that.  I left the moment I completed my 5th lap while Donatus and Nabah continued with their walk.

27.09.2010 (Monday)

1)  Started my healthy walking exercise this morning at 5.54am

2)  Pictures taken during the morning walk.

3)  People that came here for morning walk.

En. Zaratin

Si Tanggang

4)  Completed my 5th lap at 6.28am

I was half-minute earlier than my neighbour, En. Zaratin and I waited for him to arrive to start our healthy walking exercise together.  We met Si Tanggang at the top during our 4th lap.  He was late this morning.  Zaratin and myself left after completed our 5th lap while Tanggang continued with his exercise.

26.09.2010 (Sunday)

Sunday is my rest day. No healthy walking exercise activity.

25.09.2010 (Saturday)

1)  Started my healthy walking exercise this morning at 6.01am

2)  Pictures taken during the morning walk.

3)  People that turned up for the morning walk.

Si Tanggang

En. Rahman

Mr. James Tai

GB Abel

Mr. Henry

Rahman, James and Tanggang

4)  Completed my 5th lap at 6.48am

Like yesterday, before I started my walk, I could see someone was already on the way down.  At first I thought it was Si Tanggang but it was someone new to me.  I just took a picture of him and then met Si Tanggang a minute later also on his way down.  Today Si Tanggang was 2 laps earlier than me.

We met En. Rahman (who was on his way up during his 1st lap) on our way down during my 2nd lap which is Tanggang's 4th lap.  Mr. James arrived during my 3rd lap, GB Abel during my 4th lap and Mr. Henry during my 7th lap (last lap).

I had a great walk this morning, completed 7 laps and sweated profusely.  This morning the breeze was very minimal could hardly be felt.  I'm happy that more people are coming here to exercise and hopefully they will eventually become regulars.

24.09.2010 (Friday)

1)  Started my healthy walking exercise this morning at 5.55am

Si Tanggang
2)  Pictures taken during the morning walk.

3)  People that turned up for the morning walk.

En. Nabah

Mr. Donatus

When I arrived this morning, I noticed someone has came earlier than me. At first I could not recognised  who he was until approaching stone throw distance,  I was glad it was Si Tanggang.  He proudly declared to me that he has already completed 3 laps.  Wow, I felt good because someone has taken the effort to arrive earlier than me.  Isn't that great?

En. Nabah arrived towards the end of my 1st lap which is Tanggang's 4th lap.  We met Mr. Donatus while on our way down on my 4th lap.  So there were four of us walking together on my 5th lap.  En. Nabah and myself left after that while Donatus and Tanggang continued with their walk.

There were hardly any morning breeze felt during our walk and like yesterday I was sweating profusely.

DATELINE: 23.09.2010(Thursday)

1)  Started my healthy walking exercise this morning at 5.54am

2)  Pictures taken during the morning walk.

3)  Completed my 5th lap at 6.29am

I was walking alone right from 1st lap to my 5th lap.  None of the regulars turn up this morning.  During my 1st lap while almost reaching the top there were 3 dogs sleeping outside the gate but  quickly scrambled away upon seeing me.  They rested on a small stretch near the hill top and kept watch over me until my 5th lap.  I did try to woo them coming down to me but no avail.

This morning the breeze was rather weak.  I could only felt it blowing strongly during my last lap.  So without the strong breeze during 1 - 4th lap, heat easily built up inside my body and it made me sweated heavily during my walk this morning.

DATELINE:  22.09.2010 (Wednesday)

1) Started my healthy walking exercise this morning at 5.54am

2) Pictures taken during the morning walk.

3)  People that came this morning.

4)  Completed my 5th lap at 6.32am

I started off my 1st lap walking alone this morning.  Toward the end of my 1st lap, En. Nabah arrived followed by Si Tanggang.  There were three of us walking until the end of my 3rd lap, an uncle (I forgot to ask for his name) arrived.  After that there were four of us walking during my 4th & 5th lap.  En. Nabah stopped on his 4th lap which is my 5th lap while Si Tanggang and the uncle continued with their walk.

DATELINE: 21.09.2010 (Tuesday)

1)  Started my healthy walking exercise this morning at 5.57am

2)  Pictures taken during the walk this morning.

3)  People that came this morning.

My neighbour, En. Naratin
4)  Completed my 5th lap at 6.30am

I was a minute earlier to arrive than my neighbour, En. Naratin and I waited for him to arrive so that we can start walking at the same time.

This morning the weather looked fine with clear sky except a few scatter clouds.  It was  only the two of us  walking from lap 1 to lap 5. None of the regulars turn up this morning.  En. Zaratin who was not feeling well since last evening felt better (as proclaimed by him) after the morning walk.

You see, walking helps to improve your blood circulation and excreate the urea, toxins from your body by sweating.  It makes you fit and healthy too.  So, please exercise.

DATELINE:  20.09.2010 (Monday)

1)  Started my healthy walking exercise this morning at 5.49am

2)  Pictures taken during the morning walk.

3)  People that came here for the morning walk.

En. Zaratin and Si Tanggang
Uncle from Kg. Limbahau, Papar.
4)  Completed my 5th lap at 6.22am

En. Zaratin and myself started our healthy walking exercise early this morning.  When we arrived, I observed it was a very clear sky this morning.  Only a tiny bit of scattered thick clouds were seen.

Initially there were only two of us walking.  Si Tanggang came a bit late and arrived  towards the end of our 3rd lap.  Almost at the end of our 5th lap, an uncle(haven't seen him coming for quite some time) from nearby village arrived.  En. Zaratin and myself left for home after that and Si Tanggang continued his exercise with the company of that uncle.

DATELINE:  19.09.2010 (Sunday)

Sunday is my rest day.  So walking activities.

DATELINE: 18.09.2010 (Saturday)

1)  Started my healthy walking exercise this morning at 6.07am

2)  Pictures taken during the morning walk.

3)  People the turned up for the morning walk.

4)  Completed my 5th lap at 6.42am

It started raining quite heavily around 8pm and continued until I went to bed at about 10.20pm last night.  When I arrived this morning, I could see thick clouds all over the sky and I could forsee that I won't have the opportunity to capure the breaking of early morning sunlight like yesterday.

I started off my lst lap alone and En. Rahman only arrived towards the end of my 1st round.  Great to see him coming so I can have someone to speak to thus making the walk more enjoyable than walking alone.  En. Rahman stopped after completing his 3rd lap but I continued one more lap to complete my 5th lap.

Judging from the pictures taken, you could see some lights breaking at the opposite end during my first lap and it slowly diminished towards my last lap.  So I assumption was correct, no shots about the rising sun this morning as expected.  It's going to be a rainy day today.

DATELINE:  17.09.2010 (Friday)

1)  Started my healthy walking exercise this morning at 5.52am

2)  Pictures taken during the walk this morning.

3)  People that turned up this morning.

En. Rahman
Si Tanggang
Rahman and Tanggang
3)  Completed my 5th lap at 6.29am

Like yesterday, the weather looked fine to me, clear sky with scattered clouds in the sky.  I started out walking alone initially.  While on the way down during my 3rd lap I met En. Rahman on its way up round the corner stretch.  I turned around to accompany him walking up to his 1st half of his first lap.  While on the way down on my 4th lap which is Rahman's 2nd lap, we met Si Tanggang on its way up also round the corner stretch.  Poked fun at him whether he was mad with us for not accompanying him the other day.  It looked like he did not mind at all and I felt relieved about it.

When I completed my 5th lap I had to leave for home as I've to fetch my youngest son to school this morning.  Rahman and Tanggang continued with their exercise as usual.

DATELINE:  16.09.2010 (Thursday)

Started my healthy walking exercise this morning at about 5.57am.  My batteries failed me so no pictures taken during my walk.

This morning, my neighbour, En. Zaratin, my nephew, Rayner and myself started off the moment we arrived.  It was a fine morning, the sky was bright, only partial thick clouds sheilding the skies.  The morning breeze was strong, it felt really good, gushing across our faces when on our way down.  On the  2nd half of our 3rd lap, En. Rahman arrived so it was only 4 of us during the rest of the laps.  When  we walk in group and  having discussion during the walk, we don't really feel the tiredness and sometimes we also lost count how many laps we've completed as well.  Moreover when walking in group we've the opportunity to compete who's the first to reach the top which is really interesting.  Well, I'm glad I beat them on most of the laps this morning. (showing off)  :-)

Comparatively, when I walk alone I felt rather tough, psychologically implying that it's taking a longer period to complete my 5 laps maybe due to the fact there's nothing to divert my attention during the walk.

Sadly, Si Tanggang did not turn up for the last 2 days probably upset that none accompany him on 14.09.2010 (Tuesday).

Completed my 5th laps at about 6.37am then left for home after that.

DATELINE:  15.09.2010 (Wednesday)

1)  Started my healthy walking exercise this morning at 5.58am

2)  Pictures taken during the walk this morning.

3)  Completed my 5th lap at 6.32am

None of my friends came so I was walking alone the morning.  When I arrived it was gloomy, the skies  were full of thick clouds.  It looked like it was going to rain soon maybe this indicators discouraged  them from coming this morning.

When I walk alone with no one to talk to, I used to concentrate on my walking pace and breathing rythmn.  Sometimes it's tough and your spirits dropped after completing 3 laps.  The negative thinking creeps in telling you to call it quit.  It feels good to beat that pyschological barrier to complete the remaining 2 laps.

It was a great walk, the morning breeze was blowing strongly and it made me feel great as well.

DATELINE:  14.09.2010 (Tuesday)

Today is the second time this month I did not upload any pictures of my healthy walking exercise activities.  The  first time was on 02-09-2010 where I bought the wrong type of batteries for my camera and today 'cos I forgot to bring back my camera yesterday evening.  I left it at my office.

My neighbour, En. Zaratin and I started  our healthy walking exercise this morning at about 5.55am.  It was quite gloomy when we arrived and started off with the climb.  En. Rahman arrived after our 2nd lap.  So it was three of us until our 4th lap where Si Tanggang arrived.  We finished our 5th lap around 6.24am,  Seeing that three of us (Zaratin, Rahman and myself) call it quit after the 5th lap, Si Tanggang also left for home.   I was quite surprised that he too call it quit after only 1 lap.  Maybe he was not in the mood of walking alone this morning.  Funny this is not the usual him.

If not because I've to send my youngest son to school today, I certainly would be happy to accompany him for a further 4 laps.  I really wish I could but I don't want my son to be late to school.   Sorry I've to disappoint you, Tanggang.

I could see some nice pictures  waiting for me to capture this morning but unfortunately I  left my camera at the office.  How forgetful and unlucky I was.  Sigh!!!

DATELINE:  13.09.2010 (Monday)

1)  Started my healthy walking exercise this morning at 6.03am

2)  Pictures taken during the morning walk.

3)  People that came this morning for the morning walk.

Si Tanggang

En. Rahman

Tanggang & Rahman

4)  Completed my 5th laps at 6.42am

When I came I was thinking I was the earliest to arrive but on the way up (1/4 lap) I saw Tanggang walking down.  He was 2 laps earlier than me.  So glad to have him around as company to spice up the walk.  Rahman came after I've completed my 2nd laps, so it was three of us this morning.  I observed that the clouds were building up gearing for heavy rain soon.  Tanggang completed 7 laps, myself 5 laps and Rahman 3 laps.  As we were approaching our final lap, a family of 3 members arrived.  I did not manage to snap a  close up shot of them but only their images climbing up the stretch.

DATELINE:  12.09.2010  (Sunday)

Sunday is my rest day.  No morning exercise.

DATELINE:  11.09.2010 (Saturday)

1)  Started my healthy walking exercise this morning at 6.09am

2)  Pictures taken during my morning walk.

3)  People that came this morning.

Si Tanggang
James Tai

I finished 7 laps this morning maybe about 6.56am.  Si Tanggang came 2 laps earlier than me while James Tai came 2 laps after me.  The morning breeze was great blowing rather strongly and I really enjoyed the freshness it brought along.  Like what Si Tanggang described "It's natural, better than air conditioner".  I felt great after sweating heavily but the sweating was greater yesterday.  So, an extra 3 laps do make lots of difference.

 DATELINE:  10.09.2010 (Friday)

1)  Started my healthy walking exercise this morning at 6.06am

 2)  Pictures taken during my walk this morning.

3)  People that turned out this morning.

Mr. James Tai
Guru Besar, Mr. Abel
Mr. Anthony
James & Abel

James and Anthony

Anthony and myself
4)  Completed my 10th lap at 7.19am

After fasting for 30 days, muslim communities in my country will be celebrating their festival today.  To all my muslim friends, Selamat Hari Raya Puasa, Adil Fitri.

When I arrived this morning, the weather was not really welcoming.  It looked like it was going to rain anytime soon.  Despite this, I started off hoping to complete as many laps as I could.  Today, Si Tanggang was not around probably due to the dismay weather condition.

Mr. Thomas came after my 4th lap then Mr. Abel came a lap after and then Mr. Anthony came another lap later.  It's great to see more people coming here to exercise.  At first, I was thinking I'm going to stop after my 5th lap but seeing them coming boosted my spirits to complete 10 laps today.  Wow, what a great walk this morning.  I'm feeling great and energized.

DATELINE:  09.09.2010 (Thursday)

1)  Started my healthy walking exercise this morning at 6.12am

2)  Pictures taken during my morning walk.

3)  People that turned up this morning.

Si Tanggang

4)  Completed my 5th lap at 6.44am

I had a very nice sleep last night.  I normally wake up around 4.30am - 5.00am each morning but today I overslept and only woke up at 5.50am.  When I arrived I thought, oh Si Tanggang might have already completed maybe 4 laps but to my surprised he too came late.  He was only 1 lap ahead of me.  I met him about 1/2 way up.  Hey, I'm glad to see him quite regular these few days and also come here even earlier than me.  That's very encouraging to me.

DATELINE:  08.09.2010 (Wednesday)

1)  Started my healthy walking exercise this morning at 5.59am

2)  Pictures taken during my walk this morning.

3)  People who turned up this morning.

Si Tanggang

Well, I forgot to capture my closing shot so I did not know what time I actually finished my 5th laps.  I can only estimate it to be around 6.34am.  Like yesterday, Si Tanggang also came early this morning,  i.e. 1 lap earlier than me.  That's good of him being a regular and coming early during the last few days.  It's great to have someone around  to talk to during the walk .  Besides, it also provided us an opportunity to challenge as who will reach the top first.

Thick clouds were building up and most likely gearing up for some rains soon.

DATELINE:  07.09.2010 (Tuesday)

1)  Started my healthy walking exercise this morning at 6.05am

2)  Pictures taken during the walk.

3)  People that turned up this morning.

Si Tanggang

Teenagers from nearby village

4)  Completed my 5th laps at 6.39 am

As you can see, I was not walking alone this morning.  In fact Si Tanggang came 2 laps earlier than me and  I'm glad that he has been quite regular lately.  That's great.  On our way down during the 2nd half of  our  1st lap a group of teenagers from nearby village  arrived.  They came here for the fun not for exercising.  It was a great walk this morning and I noted that the breeze only started to blow a little bit strong during our 4th lap.  Only for one lap then diminished.  Rather awkward.

DATELINE:  06.09.2010 (Monday)

1)  Started my healthy walking exercise this morning at 6.10 am

(2)  Pictures taken during this morning walk.

3)  Completed my 5th lap at 6.42 am

For the next 2 weeks, my children are having their 2nd term school holidays so I don't have to rush so I can start my walk a little bit late.  I would normally prefer to start before 6.00am during schooling period.

As you can see from the pictures above, it was a cloudy morning so I don't have the opportunity to take a good snap of this morning sun rise.

Unfortunately none of my friends turned up so I was walking alone this morning.  It was a great walk but quite calm without the breeze.  I could only feel a slight increased in the strenght of the morning breeze after my 4th lap.

DATELINE:  05.09.2010 (Sunday)

Sunday is my rest day.

DATELINE:  04.09.2010 (Saturday)

(1)  Started my healthy walking exercise this morning at 5.58am

(2)  Pictures taking during this morning walk.

(3)  Completed my 5th lap at 6.32am

Si Tanggang

I was not walking alone this morning.  Si Tanggang came 1 lap earlier than me.  I felt so glad to see him around.  Thomas who use to come every Saturday did not turn up either.  So only two of us were walking this morning.  Well, it was a great walk and the breeze was strong too.  The whole sky was covered with thick clouds that shielded the views of the rising sunrise.

DATELINE:  03.09.2010 (Friday)

(1)  Started my healthy walking exercise this morning at 5.54am

(2)  Pictures taken during my morning walk.

(3)  Completed my 5th lap at 6.27am

I'm glad that I replaced the right batteries i.e. Energizer and managed to snap some pictures to share with you this morning.  When I first arrived I was hoping that Si Tanggang was earlier than me like yesterday but sadly he did not turn up. So I had no partner walking alone this morning.  When you walked alone, the spirit tend to falter especially without friends around.  Sometimes I felt dispirited after my 3rd lap and had to force myself to continue until my 5th lap which is my daily target, that's 30-35 minutes of exercising.  This morning the breeze was frailed not as strong as yesterday.  I personally prefer that it's strong which does help to dissipate the heat away from my body.  Besides that the morning breeze also makes me feel great too.

DATELINE:  02.09.2010 (Thursday)

I started my healthy walking exercise this morning at about 5.46am.  As I arrived at the starting point, I flipped out my camera, began to take my first shot.  Oh my goodness, it failed me but I've just changed the batteries this morning.  I could not believe myself.  I switched it off and on to give it another try but it failed again.  Then I realised I bought the wrong type of batteries  which is Eveready.  It should be Energizer instead.  Damn it, bloody stupid mistake I made.

As I was trying my first climb, I saw up above there was someone on the way down.  It was quite far up so I could not get a good glimpse who was that guy.  As I got nearer, I realised it was Si Tanggang.  It has been quite some time he has not being that early.   He has already completed 2 laps and now accompanying me for my 1st lap.  It's great to see him around and came here earlier than me.

The weather was great and so is the morning breeze.  The breeze was fantastic and on the way down during each lap, I could feel it blowing strongly against my face and I made sure it filled up my lungs thoroughly.  There were few good shots I could have taken if not for the bloody stupid camera that failed me.  The sunrise was great and I missed it this morning. how unfortunate.  Aargh!

Since my camera was not functioning, that also meant that I've lost my watch as well.  I normally used  to  refer to the 1st and the last pictures taken during my walk as the beginning and the last lap of my healthy walking exercise.  So  without my camera, I've to rely on the clock inside my car as my timer.  I completed my 5th lap at about 6.23am.

DATELINE: 01.09.2010 (Wednesday)

(1)  Started my healthy walking exercise this morning at 5.54am

(2)  Pictures taken during my walk this morning.

(3)  Completed my 5th lap at 6.27am

When I first arrived it was gloomy as thick clouds were covering the sky.  My experience is the first lap is always my toughest.  It's the warming up stage and only feel better more energetic after my first lap.  I was walking alone this morning and sometimes it has deterrent effect to my performance.    It was a bit calm as I could hardly feel any breeze blowing against my face which is what made me missed most.

  4. Thanks for visit.

I should do much more walking as I am not into aerobics as they bore me and need to get exercise.

    Nice photos.

  5. I admire you that you can always do your morning exercise.
The photos brings me the good memories in my childhood. I was living in the village then.
Wow, I can see the beautiful scenery from your photos. This might be the enjoyment when doing exercise with your friends.

  6. @Zezebel,
Glad that you liked the beautiful views.

    @Jackie,
Aerobics exercise is quite strenous I think. We need to do regular exercise and walking is just as good.

    @Coolingstar9,
Yes, I've made a commitment to exercise every morning except on Sunday. When you're healthy you're happy + positive mindset. I'm happy you like the pictures which also triggered your childhood memory. Thank you for coming.

  8. @Michelle,
Thank you so much for stopping by and the encouragement. Yes, you're right it's tough to stick to the program on a daily basis. It requires lots of discipline and commitment.

I'm glad you've started one too. I would be glad to pay you a visit if you can point me to the url.

  9. Hi Jimmy,

What beautiful photos of your early morning walks! They are absolutely lovely and I really enjoyed seeing them. I love when the sun is breaking in the sky in the early morning.

I also believe in walking and do so every day. I hope you inspired others! :D

I also hope you enjoyed your Ramadan feast!

    Take care,

  10. @Melinda,
I'm glad you like those photos especially the sun breaking the skies in the early morning. Some of these scenes are spectacular in nature.

I'm happy to learn that you're walking everyday too. That's a great way to keep fit and healthy.

This is the culture in my country where our muslim friends will extend their invitation as "open house" to visit their celebrations. There're lots of nice cookings to enjoy. This is a good ocassion for promoting inter-racial relationships between different races in my country.

Thank you for stopping by. :-)
